Setenil de las Bodegas in the northeastern corner Setenil de las Bodegas in the northeastern corner of the province of Cádiz is one of the most unique white villages of Andalusia. It has been build along a narrow gorge of Rio Tejo river, and part of the houses are build into the rock walls of the gorge. There are several so called cave streets, some of them running under overhanging cliff boulders.Setenil is an ancient town that flourished as a fortified city under the Moorish rule. There is a 12th century castle up on a hill above the town, a stronghold that fended off several raids before falling under Christian rule in 1484.Due to the beautiful environment, extraordinary architecture and historical sights, Setenil de las Bodegas has grown to be a popular tourist destination. It was not super busy when we visited (unfortunately on a cloudy day) in February, but it's easy to imagine that in the summer months the streets and restaurants of this small town are buzzing with visitors. To avoid the crowds, it’s best to come early in the morning or stay overnight in the town.#finnsaway #nomadlife #travelblog #travelbloggers #locationindependent #digitalnomads #digitalnomadlife #nomadiclife #travelforlife #setenildelasbodegas #andalusia #spain
El Torcal de Antequera with its karstic limestone El Torcal de Antequera with its karstic limestone formations is a wonderful nature destination in Andalusia, Spain!😍 El Torcal can be easily explored along the marked hiking trails. This UNESCO-listed nature park makes a great day trip from Malaga or the resort towns of Costa del Sol. It’s located at the elevation of around 1300 meters, so during the winter months it can be pretty chilly up there, but during the warmer months the park offers nicely cooler temperatures than the coast. In addition to the majestic rock formations you can also run into wildlife in the park. El Torcal is home to a bunch of bird species, including birds of pray like Griffon vulture, peregrine falcon and Bonelli's eagle, and the visitors often see Andalusian mountain goats along the trails, balancing on the rocks.#finnsaway #nomadlife #travelblog #travelbloggers #locationindependent #digitalnomads #digitalnomadlife #nomadiclife #travelforlife #eltorcaldeantequera #andalusia #spain
House-sitting is a wonderful way of living for dig House-sitting is a wonderful way of living for digital nomads and other long term travelers! For us this winter has been all about “farm-sitting” and working here in Torrox, Andalusia – for the past couple of months we have been living in our friends’ house and taking care of their two cute dogs, Pate and Piña, several chickens and a duck, as well as a bunch of fruit trees. This has been yet another great house-sit, and even if it has been a bit laborious to go to the farm twice a day to feed the animals, we have enjoyed our time here a lot.❤️🐾🐔This part of Spain, called Axarquía, in the southeastern corner of the Province of Málaga, has a subtropical climate suitable for exotic fruits, and majority of avocados grown in Europe come from here. In addition to avocados, there are also mango trees and some banana trees in this small fruit farm that we have been taking care of. The harvest season was already over when we arrived, but we still got to pick some mangos in early December, and plenty of avocados throughout the winter.🥑Our time taking care of the farm and staying here in El Morche is coming to an end soon, and then it’s time for a road trip around western parts of Andalusia! After staying put for so long time, we are looking forward to explore some of the nature parks of the area, as well as to visit several beautiful mountain villages and coastal towns. Pics and travel stories will follow!🤩#finnsaway #nomadlife #travelblog #travelbloggers #locationindependent #digitalnomads #digitalnomadlife #nomadiclife #travelforlife #housesitting #andalusia #spain
What a great trail run in the Parque Natural de Si What a great trail run in the Parque Natural de Sierras de Tejeda, Almijara y Alhama natural park! We are happy to be so close to some wonderful mountains and nature parks with a bunch of trails suitable for hiking and trail running. This particular route we took the other day, called El Saltillo hike, is part of the 7th leg of GR249 long distance trail. The total length of this stage, from Còmpeta to Canillas de Aceituno, is 24,3 km, and it runs up in the mountains, coming back to villages and then back up again, over riversWe made a roughly 10 km trail run from Canillas de Aceituno to the El Saltillo suspension bridge and followed the paths that run along the gorge of Rio Almanchares. Lovely views, good trails and surprisingly lot of hikers! I suppose that this short section to this handsome bridge is way more popular than the trails in this area in general – we would love to make a longer trail run or hike deeper in the natural park, and also to see some of the Iberian ibex wild coats that live in the mountains!#finnsaway #nomadlife #travelblog #travelbloggers #locationindependent #digitalnomads #digitalnomadlife #nomadiclife #travelforlife #trailrunning #runningandtraveling #andalusia #spain
During the past couple of years, along our travels During the past couple of years, along our travels in Spain, we have stayed here in Torrox Costa area for several months altogether, but only visited the nearby Torrox town very rarely. We definitely should go more often, since it’s a lovely, white Andalusian village with wonderful views and charming small alleys that climb up the hills on which the town has been built.#finnsaway #nomadlife #travelblog #travelbloggers #locationindependent #digitalnomads #digitalnomadlife #nomadiclife #travelforlife #andalusia #spain #torrox
“Toes in the sand, head in the clouds”The Me “Toes in the sand, head in the clouds”The Mediterranean Sea is too chilly for swimming at this time of the year (or well, of course you can swim, and many people do, but we prefer warmer waters 😄) but (sunset) walks on the beach, listening to the waves, are always a pleasure.#finnsaway #nomadlife #travelblog #travelbloggers #locationindependent #digitalnomads #digitalnomadlife #nomadiclife #travelforlife #andalusia #spain
